Reigning Miss Universe Sheynnis Palacios' emotional parade in the Philippines


Miss Universe 2023 Sheynnis Palacios received a grand welcome motorcade on Sunday, May 5 at the SM Mall of Asia (MOA) Complex in Pasay City.

The beauty queen from Nicaragua arrived in the Philippines on May 1 as part of her Asia Tour and as a special guest of the Miss Universe Philippines organization.

Fans flocked to MOA to give her the warmest Filipino welcome. The reigning Miss Universe became emotional when she was handed the Nicaraguan flag during her parade.

To recall, Sheynnis has not been back to her home country since winning the 72nd Miss Universe last November in San Salvador, El Salvador.

Fun fact, she not only became the first Nicaraguan woman to become Miss Universe but also the first to win one of the major international pageants.

But, her historic victory was controversial in Nicaragua, due to the images of her participation years ago in protests against Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega.

Also, Miss Universe Nicaragua national director Karen Celebertti has been banned from returning home. She eventually stepped down from her post and became the new director of talent development for the Miss Universe Organization.

It is not known when or if Sheynnis will return home to celebrate her victory with her countrymen whom she gave so much pride and honor on the international stage.

During Sunday's parade in the Philippines, she expressed her love and gratitude to Filipinos for their continued love and support during her reign as Miss Universe.

72nd Miss World heats up with contestants' arrival in Telangana, India

Miss World 2025, the 72nd Miss World competition has officially begun in Telengana, India with the arrival of over 100 contestants vying for the highly coveted title. The beauties were checked into their official residence hotel, the Trident Hotel Hyderabad, and have been rehearsing for the opening ceremony this coming Saturday, May 10 at the Gachibowli Indoor Stadium. According to the Miss World organization, the upcoming ceremony "promises to be a vibrant display of traditional Telangana folk and tribal dance performances, beautifully choreographed in a parade-style theme that will highlight the rich cultural heritage of the region." Miss Maine USA 2024 is Anne Baldridge

Anne Baldridge was crowned Miss Maine USA 2024 in a glittering state competition held on March 10 at Boston Marriott Burlington in Burlington, Maine. The 25-year-old TV news reporter representing Casco Bay bested 11 other contestants to win the state title. She succeeds last year's winner Juliana Morehouse Locklear. Plus-sized beauty Sara Milliken was crowned the National American Miss Alabama 2024 during the state final held on May 27 at the Renaissance Marriot in Montgomery. Former Miss Cosmo South Africa Lebohang Raputsoe, 26, from Vaal triangle, has been officially announced as Miss Supranational South Africa 2025. Bokang Montjane, a former Miss South Africa and now Miss Supranational South Africa national director, led the official announcement via eNCA news on Saturday, May 10.
