Miss Asia Pacific returns after 5 years, final date announced

The Miss Asia Pacific International pageant is set to return after a 5-year hiatus according to the latest announcement of the organization. "After five years, we're so excited to come back and share the stage with you! Be part of the moment when we celebrate our uniqueness together once again," posted on its official social media page. The competition was last held in 2019 with Spain's Chaiyenne Huisman winning the crown at the Newport Performing Arts Theater in Pasay City, Philippines. This year's event, Miss Asia Pacific International 2024, is scheduled for October 7 in Manila. Fabiola Calvo appointed as Miss Asia Pacific Costa Rica 2024

Fabiola Calvo has been officially announced as Miss Asia Pacific Costa Rica 2024 and will represent her country at the next Miss Asia Pacific International competition. The 28-year-old is a professional nurse, entrepreneur, activist, and health advocate. She is no stranger to pageantry, having placed in the Top 10 at Miss Costa Rica 2016 and Top 5 at Miss Costa Rica 2023. Fabiola also held the title Miss America Latina Costa Rica 2019 and went on to compete in Miss America Latina 2019 where she placed in the Top 5. It has yet to be announced when and where the next Miss Asia Pacific International edition will be held. The international pageant was last held in 2019 with Spain's Chaiyenne Huisman winning the title in Pasay City, Philippines. Following rounds of screenings, 21 contestants from across the country have been announced for the inaugural edition of The Miss Philippines pageant. The winner, to be crowned this October at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City, will be representing the Philippines at Miss Supranational, Miss Charm, or Miss Asia Pacific International. Pauline Amelinckx (Miss Supranational Philippines 2023 and Miss Supranational 2023 first runner-up) was proclaimed as the first The Miss Philippines during her homecoming celebration last month. She is expected to crown her successor in the upcoming event. The Miss Philippines is reinventing pageantry as the organizers announced what to expect in the competition — no swimsuit round, red carpet moments like Cannes for the formal wear segment, TED Talks-type speeches, and emphasis on how to promote the Philippines to the world. Mutya ng Pilipinas 2022 is Iona Gibbs of Bataan

Iona Gibbs bested 39 other competitors to win Mutya ng Pilipinas 2022 (Jewel of the Philippines) in a glittering final show held on Sunday, December 4 at the Filoil EcoOil Centre in San Juan City. The 18-year-old Filipino-Canadian singer-songwriter and model representing Bataan also bagged the Best in Long Gown award. She was crowned by her predecessor Mutya ng Pilipinas 2019 Klyza Castro and is now expected to represent the Philippines at the next Miss Asia Pacific International pageant. Northern California's Arianna Kyla Padrid was named Mutya ng Pilipinas - World Top Model, Camarines Sur's Jeanette Reyes clinched the title Mutya ng Pilipinas - Tourism International, and California's Jesi Mae Cruz was awarded the Mutya ng Pilipinas - Overseas Communities. Shannon Robinson of Makati City, Megan Deen Campbell of Lapu-Lapu City, and Marcelyn Bautista of Tarlac City rounded out the Top 7 and were announced as Mutya ng Pilipinas - Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, respectively. The Top 40 contestants vying for the Mutya ng Pilipinas 2022 (Jewel of the Philippines) pageant have been officially presented to the press on Wednesday, November 23 at the Citadines Bay City Manila. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the national competition was not held in 2020 and 2021. The winner of the upcoming 52nd edition is expected to represent the Philippines at Miss Asia Pacific International 2023 on a date and venue yet to be announced. Klyza Castro, the titleholder from 2019 and the longest reigning Mutya ng Pilipinas, will crown her successor on Sunday, December 4 at the Filoil EcoOil Centre in San Juan City. In addition to the main winner, six other titles are at stake consisting of Mutya ng Pilipinas - World Top Model, Tourism International, Overseas Communities, Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.
