Philippines' Michelle Dee launches Global Spectrum Initiative

Miss Universe Philippines 2023 Michelle Dee, the representative of the Philippines to the upcoming Miss Universe 2023 pageant in El Salvador, recently launched her own foundation, the Global Spectrum Initiative (GSI). Inspired by her two brothers on the autism spectrum, Michelle is a strong advocate for autism awareness. She has been a long-time partner and Goodwill Ambassador of the Autism Society Philippines. Her foundation is dedicated to creating a world where inclusion matters for everyone. It aims to build a strong community that fosters inclusivity and acceptance and to create a sanctuary for individuals on the autism spectrum. GSI will also provide quality resources, guidance counseling, and educational programs, and create specialized rooms for learning, sensory stimulation, occupational workshops, and socialization. Following rounds of screenings, 21 contestants from across the country have been announced for the inaugural edition of The Miss Philippines pageant. The winner, to be crowned this October at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City, will be representing the Philippines at Miss Supranational, Miss Charm, or Miss Asia Pacific International. Pauline Amelinckx (Miss Supranational Philippines 2023 and Miss Supranational 2023 first runner-up) was proclaimed as the first The Miss Philippines during her homecoming celebration last month. She is expected to crown her successor in the upcoming event. Pauline Amelinckx crowned as first 'The Miss Philippines'

Miss Supranational 2023 first runner-up Pauline Amelinckx was officially crowned the first-ever "The Miss Philippines" on Thursday, August 10. The crowning ceremony took place during the Supra-Duo Homecoming celebration event held for her and Mister Supranational 2023 semifinalist Johannes Rissler at the Crowne Plaza Manila Galleria. Pauline received her crown and official The Miss Philippines sash from former beauty queen and now Miss Universe Philippines national director Shamcey Supsup-Lee. As the titleholder, the Boholana beauty represents "confidence, intelligence, and positive change in addition to being a beauty queen." Applications are open until August 26 for the first edition of The Miss Philippines, the "newest, most innovative and modern pageant" for females of Filipino heritage, ages 18 to 32 years old, from all corners of the world. Matea Smith was crowned Miss Filipina International 2023 in a glittering competition held on Saturday, August 5 at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles, California. The 21-year-old model and a behavioral and cognitive neuroscience student at the University of Florida bested over 30 other competitors to win the beauty title. Aside from the title, she also bagged the Best in Swimsuit award. She succeeds last year's winner, Blessa Figueroa. Amanda Russo was named Miss Filipina International Tourism 2023 while Lauren Skeoch, Patricia Tapia, and Rylen Steinbuch were announced as the first, second, and third runners-up, respectively. Pauline Amelinckx of the Philippines was greeted with a warm welcome in her hometown of Bohol following her stint at Miss Supranational 2023. The 27-year-old Boholana had her homecoming parade on Sunday, July 30 wearing a stunning blue ensemble by Filipino designer Mikee Andrei. "This welcome back home warmed my heart so much. I feel beyond grateful to be back in Bohol and share our victory with every Bol-anon," she shared on social media. "The support I have felt, I have carried with me thru every journey and it has given me so much strength and made me feel so loved." Her parade also coincided with the culmination of this year's Sandugo Festival — an annual historical celebration on the island of Bohol that commemorates the first friendship treaty in the Philippines. Herlene Nicole Budol who bagged the title Miss Tourism Philippines 2023 at the recently held Miss Grand Philippines 2023 announced her retirement from pageantry. From her first competition where she was crowned Binibining Angono, the famous vlogger and TV personality went on to place first runner-up at Binibining Pilipinas 2022 and clinched multiple sponsored awards. Following her withdrawal from the controversial Miss Planet International edition in Uganda last year, Herlene came back determined to conquer Miss Grand Philippines but the results unfortunately did not go in her favor. In one of her latest posts on social media, she emotionally shared a video captioned in Filipino — "Kung saan man po ako dalhin ng tadhana ng Philippines yun napo ang last pageant ko sa pageant lang susuko hindi sa buhay." Newly crowned Miss Grand Philippines 2023 Nikki de Moura returned to a warm homecoming welcome in Cagayan de Oro City. A grand motorcade around the "City of Golden Friendship" was held on Monday, July 24 as well as courtesy calls with the city officials. Later that day, an official homecoming press conference was held for the 19-year-old model on the ground floor of the SM CDO Downtown Premier. Nikki won Miss Grand Philippines 2023 from a field of 30 competitors at the national pageant last July 13 at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City. The 19-year-old Filipino-Brazilian model representing Cagayan de Oro City also bagged the Miss Photogenic, Skin Elements Ambassador, Miss Bench, and Miss Philippines Airlines awards.
