Miss England 2022 is Jessica Gagen, first redhead winner in history

Miss Lancashire, Jessica Ashley Gagen from Skelmersdale bested 27 other finalists to be crowned Miss England 2022 on Monday, October 17 at the Holiday Inn Birmingham Airport.

The 27-year-old model and aerospace engineering student at the University of Liverpool became the first redhead beauty to ever win the title in pageant history. She succeeds last year's winner Rehema Muthamia and will now prepare to represent England at the 71st Miss World pageant.

Emily Cossey, 24, from Chelsea and Milly Everatt, 22, from Eastoft, Lincolnshire were announced as the first and second runners-up, respectively.

The new Miss England who also bagged the Dentakay Brightest Smile Award is no stranger to pageantry. She already participated in last year's pageant and placed first runner-up.

As a future aerospace engineer and pilot in a heavily male-dominated industry, Jessica is advocating for education and women's empowerment. She wants to inspire young girls, especially those who are bullied for being red-haired.

"In the future, I envision a world where more young girls are educated about the opportunities that are available to them in STEM careers, and so I’ll be working my very hardest to help our girls realize the skills they already possess which would make them phenomenal pilots and engineers," she wrote on social media.
