Former Miss International Kylie Verzosa wins Best Actress at DIAFA 2022


Miss International 2016 Kylie Verzosa of the Philippines won the Best Actress award for her performance in "The Housemaid (2021)" at the Distinctive International Arab Festivals Awards in Dubai.

The former beauty queen turned actress received her award on Friday, November 4 at the Dubai Creek Harbour Marina wearing a beautiful gown by Manila-based Filipino fashion designer Mark Bumgarner.

"Six years ago, when I won the Miss International title for the Philippines, it was such a joyous moment for me. Today, I feel like winning another crown, and this time for Best Actress. Nothing ever beats the feeling of winning something for your own country because of your own hard work," she said in her acceptance speech.

Kylie also dedicated her award to all the Filipino workers abroad "who have sacrificed their time, their happiness, and their efforts for the sake of their country, but most of all, for their families."

"The Housemaid" is an adaptation of a Korean film that follows the story of a naive and innocent girl hired to work as a nanny for a rich family.

The inaugural edition of the Reina Filipinas beauty pageant was held on Friday, August 7 at the Newport Performing Arts Theater in Pasay City. Aslihan Morali, from Ancaster, Ontario, was crowned Miss Universe Canada 2026 on Saturday, August 8 at the Chrysler Theatre in Windsor. The 17th Miss Supranational beauty pageant was held on Friday, July 31 at the Strzelecki Park Amphitheater in Nowy Sącz, Poland. Katrina Llegado, a 28-year-old financial management graduate from the Philippines, was crowned Miss Supranational 2026 by her predecessor Eduarda Braum of Brazil.
