71st Miss Universe: Vietnam wins Swimsuit Cape Vote


Miss Universe Vietnam Nguyễn Thị Ngọc Châu has been officially announced as the winner of the Swimsuit Cape Vote — an official fan vote conducted by the Miss Universe Organization on its official app.

The winning cape was showcased during the 71st Miss Universe preliminary swimsuit competition which was held on January 11 in New Orleans.

Ngọc Châu chose the design for her personalized cape as it motivates her to conquer her Miss Universe dream. Wearing it feels like she has all the support of the entire Vietnamese people. She believes her people love to protect and take care of each other.

The entire message she also wants the design to have is to inspire dreamers that not all dreams come true, or simply must be postponed, but everyone should keep dreaming and dare to live their passions in order to live a meaningful life.

"This award is not just for me, but for everyone's dreams. Keep dreaming and strive for it, one day your dream will come true," she wrote on social media.

According to the 28-year-old beauty, a #DreamwithChau drawing contest was held for the design of the cape with the hope of bringing the dream of Vietnam to the Miss Universe stage. The drawing contest has received hundreds of entries from all over the country — from dreams no matter how simple they seem yet bring great emotions.

"I had read every story you send to me, and the dreams seem to be very simple but it brings great emotions. It's an indescribable feeling for me, I really appreciate what you guys have sent to me," she said to her fans.

"We all have our own dreams, and maybe the way to conquering our dreams will be a little difficult and will make us a little discouraged," she added.

"Sometimes we will encounter failures but the more important thing is that we gave our best and fought for it. I firmly believe that we will be the winner if we don’t give up."

Ngọc Châu received a warm welcome upon her arrival back in Vietnam following her impeccable representation during the recently held Miss Universe 2022 pageant in the US.

Miss Greater Bridgeport, Shavana Clarke was crowned Miss Connecticut USA 2024 on Sunday, April 14 at Marriott Hartford Windsor Airport in Windsor, Connecticut. The 29-year-old model and mental health advocate will now prepare to represent the state of Connecticut at Miss USA 2024 in California this August. Danika Christopherson, representing The Village, was crowned Miss Oklahoma USA 2024 on Sunday, April 14 at OCCC Performing Arts Center Theater in Oklahoma City Community College. Christianna Katsieri has been officially announced as Miss Universe Greece 2024 by the Star & Mr GS Hellas organization. The 22-year-old model has previously held the title Miss GS Hellas 2022 and became Miss Earth Greece 2023. She went on to represent Greece at Miss Earth 2023 in Vietnam last December. Miss Universe Netherlands 2024: Meet the Top 16 finalists

From 60 beauties who participated during the casting day, only 16 will now move on as finalists for Miss Universe Netherlands 2024. The selection event and official announcement of the Top 16 finalists took place on Saturday, April 13 at Studio 21 in Hilversum. Previously held by Monica van Ee of the Miss Nederland organization, the license for Miss Universe Netherlands has been taken over this year by Milou Verhoeks of the Miss Beauty of the Netherlands. Last year's winner under Miss Nederland was Rikkie Valerie Kollé , the first-ever transgender woman to represent the Netherlands at the Miss Universe pageant. The Miss Universe Philippines organization has officially announced former Miss Universe of the USA, R'Bonney Gabriel as host of the upcoming Miss Universe Philippines 2024 coronation night. To recall, R'Bonney was crowned Miss Universe 2022 during the the 71st Miss Universe pageant held at the New Orleans Morial Convention Center in New Orleans in January 2023. The Filipino-American fashion designer became the second Asian-American woman to win the Miss Universe title since Brook Lee (Miss Universe 1997) and so far, the oldest winner at 28 years old, succeeding Andrea Meza of Mexico. Elizabeth Laker was crowned Miss RNB España 2024 (Miss Supranational Spain 2024) on Saturday, April 13 at Teatre Auditori de Salou (TAS). The 25-year-old personal trainer and makeup artist from Arona, Tenerife succeeds last year's winner Lola Wilson. Martina Suárez of Valencia and Ainara Martínez of La Rioja were the first and second runners-up, respectively.
