Miss Costa Rica 2023: Meet the 10 contestants
Following a preliminary event held last May 23, the 10 contestants vying for Miss Costa Rica 2023 (Miss Universe Costa Rica 2023) have been officially announced.
The judges consisting of former Miss France Véronique de la Cruz, marketing expert Diana Bonell, and singer Rodolfo González selected the finalists who were officially presented via the television program "7 Estrellas" on Thursday.
For the first time in its history, the pageant will have its own reality show on Teletica channel 7 that will kick off a week before the grand final.
Miss Costa Rica 2023 will be broadcast on Wednesday, August 16. Last year's winner, María Fernanda Rodríguez Ávila, will pass the new crown to her successor at the end of the event.
The next Miss Costa Rica will represent her country at the 72nd Miss Universe (Miss Universe 2023) in El Salvador later this year.
Meet the contestants:
Alejandra González - 26, from Palmares (Alajuela) and a resident of Santa Ana. She holds a degree in communication.
Catalina Murillo - 26, a student in business administration and originally from Concepción de San Isidro de Heredia.
Deykel Palmer - 19, a resident of Alajuela and works at Concetrix while studying architecture and Portuguese.
Fabiola Calvo - 28, a resident of Naranjo, Alajuela. She holds a degree in nursing and works at Cima Hospital.
Fariany Gutiérrez - 27, from Pinares, Curridabat. She is pursuing a bachelor's degree in medicine.
Francela Mena - 28, originally from Lomas de Ayarco. She holds a degree in bilingual preschool education and a master's in marketing and business management.
Lisbeth Valverde - 28, from Uvita, Puntarenas. She holds a degree in special education from the National University of Costa Rica.
Natalia González - 24, a public relations officer with a degree in communication and marketing.
Nathallie Durán - 19, a medical student from San Rafael de Heredia.
Yoselyn Porras - 27, a beautician and gastronomy student from San Isidro de Alajuela.
