Miss Universe Malta 2023 is Ella Portelli of St. Julians


Miss St. Julians, Ella Portelli, was crowned Miss Universe Malta 2023 in a national competition held on Friday, June 30 at the Hilton Malta in St. Julian's.

The 24-year-old interior designer bested 24 other competitors to win the national title. She will now represent her country at the 72nd Miss Universe (Miss Universe 2023) in El Salvador later this year.

Julia Ann Cluett of Floriana and Ntombi Malinga of San Gwann were named the first and second runners-up, respectively, while Rebecca Camilleri of Sliema, Amy Spiteri of Ghaxaq, and Greta Craus of Rabat rounded out the Top 6 finalists.

Last year's titleholder who bagged the Miss Congeniality award at the 71st Miss Universe pageant in New Orleans, Maxine Formosa Gruppetta, relinquished her reign at the end of the event.

The new Miss Universe Malta joined the pageant to "empower and inspire others to never stop believing in themselves and to show that you can do anything you set your mind to."

"If I could spread one message, it would be to be kind and mindful to others as you never what someone may be going through," she said in her introduction video for the competition.

"I'm here to be the best version of myself and to spread awareness on topics close to my heart and I'm so grateful to have this opportunity," she added.

Miss Hawaii USA 2025 is Issha Rose Mata from Hilo

Issha Rose Mata, representing the town of Hilo, bested 16 other contestants to win Miss Hawaii USA 2025 on Saturday, March 22 at Hawaii Convention Center in Honolulu. The 29-year-old model and digital marketing specialist was crowned by last year's winner and Miss USA 2024 Top 10 finalist Breea Yamat. Mikaela Bega of Maui was named first runner-up while Kristi Van Diver-Kometani of Kakaako, Alexia Locquiao Sommers of Kahala, and Faith Alvior of Valley Isle were the second, third, and fourth runners-up, respectively. Ruth Thomas was crowned Miss Botswana 2025 (Miss World Bostwana) on Saturday, March 22 at The Grand Palm Hotel Casino Convention Resort in Gaborone. Four new queens have been crowned at the culmination of the Bellezas Globales de Nicaragua 2025 pageant held on Sunday, March 23 at the Teatro Nacional Rubén Darío in Managua. Reigning Miss Belgium Karen Jansen, 23, has been officially announced as Belgium's representative in the upcoming Miss World 2025 competition. The psychology student and freelance model from the province of Limburg was recently crowned Miss Belgium 2025 last month in De Panne. Karen will compete with over 100 contestants from around the world to become the next Miss World this May in Hyderabad, India. Belgium has yet to win the Miss World crown since its first participation in 1969. The country's highest placement was in 1996 when Belgian model Laurence Borremans made the Top 10. Agathe Cauet to represent France at the 72nd Miss World

Former Miss Nord-Pas-de-Calais and Miss France 2023 first runner-up Agathe Cauet was announced on Monday, March 10 as Miss World France 2025. The 26-year-old former nurse was first runner-up to Miss France 2023 Indira Ampiot of Guadeloupe at the national pageant in Châteauroux.
