South Africa's Bryoni Govender departs for Miss Universe 2023 in El Salvador


Miss Universe South Africa 2023 Bryoni Govender arrived in style at the OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg on Tuesday, October 31 for her departure to El Salvador.

Wearing a Warrick Gautier outfit for her departure look, the stunning 26-year-old was brought to the airport in a luxurious Mercedes-Benz with her packed suitcases ready for the Miss Universe 2023 pageant.

"As I sit here ready to depart my heart is filled with such a sense of gratitude for this opportunity, to be able to represent my beloved South Africa on the biggest stage in the Universe," she shared on social media.

"Thank you for allowing me to have this incredible responsibility, thank you for believing in me, thank you for making me feel seen, heard, and loved. I will carry each and every one of you in my heart," she added.

Bryoni will compete with more than 80 other contestants in the upcoming 72nd Miss Universe competition in San Salvador on November 18.

South Africa has won the Miss Universe title three times with Margaret Gardiner (1978), Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters (2017), and Zozibini Tunzi (2019).

Miss Universe Australia 2026 is Caity Worthington from Brisbane

Caitlin Worthington was declared the winner of Miss Universe Australia 2026 at the national final on Wednesday, August 26, held at the Crown Melbourne. The 28-year-old radiographer and model from Brisbane succeeds her predecessor Lexie Brant. She will represent Australia at the Miss Universe 2026 pageant in Puerto Rico this November. The Miss World 2026 Top Model competition took place on Thursday, August 27, at the DO Theater in Nha Trang, Vietnam. Sixty finalists, chosen from the initial round of the competition, graced the runway, displaying creations from local designers representing their countries. Miss World 2026: Meet the continental winners of the Head-to-Head Challenge

The Head-to-Head Challenge for Miss World 2026 took place on August 22 and 24 at the Khanh Hoa Children's Palace in Nha Trang, Vietnam. During the event, all contestants presented themselves and shared speeches about their initiatives. From each continental group, five contestants were selected to move on to the second round, where four continental winners were determined. The continental winners were Romanda Hombir from South Africa, Georgia-Lee Gill from Trinidad and Tobago, Asia Rose Simpson from the Philippines, and Julia Kühnle from Germany. By winning their respective continental groups, they have already earned their spots in the Top 40. Based on their answers during the final round, one of them will be declared the overall challenge winner and will automatically progress to the Top 20.
