South Africa's Bryoni Govender departs for Miss Universe 2023 in El Salvador


Miss Universe South Africa 2023 Bryoni Govender arrived in style at the OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg on Tuesday, October 31 for her departure to El Salvador.

Wearing a Warrick Gautier outfit for her departure look, the stunning 26-year-old was brought to the airport in a luxurious Mercedes-Benz with her packed suitcases ready for the Miss Universe 2023 pageant.

"As I sit here ready to depart my heart is filled with such a sense of gratitude for this opportunity, to be able to represent my beloved South Africa on the biggest stage in the Universe," she shared on social media.

"Thank you for allowing me to have this incredible responsibility, thank you for believing in me, thank you for making me feel seen, heard, and loved. I will carry each and every one of you in my heart," she added.

Bryoni will compete with more than 80 other contestants in the upcoming 72nd Miss Universe competition in San Salvador on November 18.

South Africa has won the Miss Universe title three times with Margaret Gardiner (1978), Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters (2017), and Zozibini Tunzi (2019).
