Panama's Italy Mora disqualified from Miss Universe 2024


A few days after arriving in Mexico for Miss Universe 2024, Miss Universe Panama 2024 Italy Mora has been officially removed from the competition.

No reasons were disclosed for her disqualification because according to the Miss Universe Organization: "Confidentiality is a fundamental pillar of any disciplinary process. By protecting sensitive and personal information, we not only ensure fairness and equity in our decisions, but also the dignity of all involved."

MUO also said in an official statement released on Friday, November 1 that their decision to disqualify Miss Universe Panama has been taken "after a thorough evaluation by our disciplinary commission."

The statement explained: "The disciplinary committee, charged with maintaining the integrity and values of the pageant, conducted a full audit of the matter and, based on the information gathered and reviewed, has concluded that withdrawal is the most appropriate course of action under the current circumstances."

Rumors suggesting that Italy had a confrontation with Celinee Santos from the Dominican Republic or that she left the hotel to be with her boyfriend, which were cited online as reasons for her disqualification, have all been found false.

Before going to Miss Universe, Italy was crowned in August as Panama's official delegate for the upcoming 73rd Miss Universe in Mexico City. The 19-year-old model represented Riviera del Canal at the national pageant.

Miss Venezuela 2024, the 71st Miss Venezuela pageant, was held on Thursday, December 5 at Espacio Caracas. Stephany Abasali, a 24-year-old economics student representing Anzoátegui, bested 22 other contestants to be crowned Miss Universe Venezuela 2024. Daniel Mejía from Puerto Rico was proclaimed the winner of the Mr World 2024 competition on Saturday, November 23 in Phan Thiet, Vietnam. Amber Rustenberg was crowned Miss Nederland 2024 (Miss Netherlands 2024) in a national competition held on Sunday, June 16 at Studio 21 in Hilversum. The 23-year-old entrepreneur from Amsterdam edged out nine other finalists to win the national title. The Miss Universe Organization has officially announced Chelsea Manalo of the Philippines as the Best in National Costume winner at Miss Universe 2024. Completing the Top 3 finalists for the special award were Emilia Dides from Chile (second place) and Nguyen Cao Ky Duyen from Vietnam (third place). Chelsea's national costume "Hiraya" meaning "the fruit of one's hopes, dreams, and aspirations" was voted the ultimate winner among 125 costumes showcased on this year's Miss Universe stage.
