The 50th edition of Miss Intercontinental has officially kicked off last weekend in Sharm El Sheik, Egypt with the official welcome and sashing ceremony of the contestants from all across continents. Standouts were Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Crimea, Curacao, Czech Republic, Dominican Republic, Greece, Honduras, Mexico, Peru, Philippines, Poland, Romania, Russia, Thailand, USA, and Vietnam. Around 70 contestants are vying for one of the world's most coveted international titles. One of them will succeed Cinderella Faye Elle Obeñita from the Philippines, the reigning Miss Intercontinental. Miss Vale do Tejo 2021 Nadiuska Gutierrez will represent Portugal at the 50th Miss Intercontinental pageant in Sharm El Sheik, Egypt this October. The 26-year-old technical support, esthetician, and content creator represented the Portuguese region of Vale do Tejo at Miss Queen Portugal 2021 where she placed in the Top 10 and bagged the Miss Popular award. Originally from Venezuela, Miss Intercontinental Portugal 2022 is passionate about dancing and acting, and enjoys photography, traveling, and learning about new places and cultures. Miss Denmark 2021 Top 10 finalist Clara Sofie Lund has officially been announced as Miss Intercontinental Denmark 2022. The 22-year-old financial economics student and a former elite athlete in Taekwondo from Aarhus will represent her country at the 50th Miss Intercontinental pageant this October in Sharm El Sheik, Egypt. The 25-year-old professional model from Orange County, California was born in the US to a Danish father and a Filipina mother. She is no stranger to pageantry, having joined Mutya Pilipinas in 2016 where she was one of the Top 3, and Miss World Philippines 2019 where she placed in the Top 12. As a US-born mixed-race woman, Michelle takes pride in both her heritage and nationality. Three of this year's Binibining Pilipinas (Miss Philippines) titleholders will have an official send-off party this Monday, September 19 in Araneta City. Binibining Pilipinas Intercontinental Gabriella Basiano, Binibining Pilipinas Globe Chelsea Fernandez, and Binibining Pilipinas Grand International Roberta Tamondong will soon depart for their international competitions this October. Gabriella and Chelsea will respectively compete for back-to-back wins at Miss Intercontinental 2022 in Egypt (October 14) and The Miss Globe 2022 in Albania (October 15) while Roberta will try to make history at Miss Grand International 2022 in Indonesia (October 25). Oh Wei Qi was crowned Miss World Singapore 2022 in a glittering competition held on Saturday, September 10 at the state-of-the-art The Theatre at Mediacorp. The 23-year-old artist and entrepreneur will now prepare to represent Singapore at the 71st Miss World pageant. She succeeds last year's titleholder Khailing Ho. "Everything feels so surreal to me, it feels like a dream," she wrote in a statement on social media and recalled how she joined the pageant for the first time in 2021. "It was my first pageant experience and definitely one that taught me the beauty of Miss World and the possibilities I can do to give back to society," she said. The inaugural edition of the Miss Zimbabwe Queen pageant will take place on Saturday, September 10 at the Harare International Conference Center (HICC). Vietnam's representative for the 50th Miss Intercontinental pageant in Egypt, Le Nguyen Bao Ngoc, was given a special send-off ceremony on Thursday, September 1. The event took place at the Orchids Saigon Hotel in Ho Chi Minh City and was attended by the reigning Miss Intercontinental Cinderella Faye Obeñita from the Philippines as an invited special guest. The 27-year-old beauty holds an ACCA Diploma in Accounting and Business and works as a senior audit executive at ACM & Associates, a professional firm offering assurance services. She is also working towards finishing her ACCA and becoming an affiliate member, as well as pursuing a bachelor's degree in applied accounting from Oxford Brookes University. Krystyna Sokołowska was crowned Miss Polonia 2021/2022 in a national competition held at the OSiR Sports and Spectacle Hall in Włocławek on Friday, May 27. The 25-year-old student and sports club owner from Białystok edged out 19 other beauties to win her title. She succeeds last year's winner, Natalia Gryglewska. Karolina Malina of Kołobrzeg and Julia Baryga of Łódź were the first and second runners-up, respectively, while Klaudia Andrzejewska of Włocławek and Sylwia Bober of Biłgoraj completed the Top 5. Miss Polonia 2019 and reigning Miss World Karolina Bielawska was present as a special guest at the glittering event.
