Former Miss Malaysia Michelle Yeoh wins Oscars 2023 Best Actress

Malaysian actress and former beauty queen Michelle Yeoh bagged the Best Actress award at Oscars 2023 for her notable performance in the 2022 sci-fi/adventure/comedy film Everything Everywhere All at Once. Hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, the 95th Academy Awards aired on Monday, March 13, and was held at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, California. Michelle made history by becoming the first person of Asian descent to win the Academy Award for Best Actress. She also won the same recognition at the Golden Globes for the same film last month. The 60-year-old played the role of Evelyn Quan Wang, an overwhelmed but optimistic laundromat owner who saved the universe. She beat Andrea Riseborough (To Leslie), Cate Blanchett (Tar), Michelle Williams (The Fabelmans), and Ana de Armas (Blonde). New Miss Universe Malaysia launched, first Miss Universe private jet revealed

Newly formed Miss Universe Malaysia was launched in a press conference held on Friday, February 17 at the Astor Ballroom of the St. Regis Hotel in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The event officially introduced Indonesian singer Poppy Capella of Just Capella as the new license holder. She is also the owner of Jakarta-based PT Capella Swastika Karya which recently acquired Miss Universe Indonesia. Also announced joining her team is appointed CEO Dato' Westin Chew, a Malaysian businessman and hands-on chief executive officer who has over a decade of experience in various fields. Miss Universe 2022 R'Bonney Gabriel and her court, Dominican Republic's Andreína Martínez Founier, and Curacao's Gabriëla Dos Santos were invited to attend as special guests. Miss Earth Malaysia 2023 is Manvin Khera

Manvin Khera was crowned Miss Earth Malaysia 2023 during the Ratu Wanita Malaya final competition held on Saturday, October 8 at the Evolve Concept Mall in Petaling Jaya, Selangor. The 21-year-old model is now expected to represent Malaysia at the Miss Earth 2023 pageant which will be held in Vietnam. Her predecessor, Kajel Kaur, will compete in Miss Earth 2022 this November in the Philippines. A total of 18 competitors were selected to take part in the inaugural edition of the national pageant. Other winners who will also be sent to various international competitions next year were Miss Face of Humanity Malveen Kaur, Miss Global Malaysia Sunshine Aileen Devi Eric, Miss Eco Malaysia Thanu Shri, Miss Asia Pacific Malaysia Taanusiya Chetty, and Miss Star Malaysia Kash Bhullar. Cheam Wei Yeng (Lesley) was crowned Miss Universe Malaysia 2022 on Friday, October 7 at the M Resort & Hotel in Damansara, Kuala Lumpur. The 26-year-old pharmaceutical and health science graduate is an assistant manager and a multilingual host and talent from Selangor. She succeeds Miss Universe Malaysia 2020 Francisca Luhong James. Ajunee Simreet Kaur Khangura and Tee Wan Ying were named the first and second runners-up, respectively. Rounding out the Top 8 finalists were Annatasha Shanty Jeremiah (Asha), Joann Tiong Hau Ping (Joann), Catherine Lai Hui Yi (Kate), Kaverrna Nair Sukumaran (Kaverrna), and Wong Siu Jane (Siu Jane). In addition to the national title, the new Miss Universe Malaysia also bagged the Miss Radiant Confidence and Miss Schwarzkopf Most Beautiful Hair awards. Malaysia's representatives for Miss World 2022, Miss Supranational 2023, and Miss Grand International 2022 have been selected during the HyperLive Festival Malaysia 2022 on Saturday, August 27 at the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC) in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. A 24-year-old model, Melisha Lin, was named Miss Supranational Malaysia 2022 after gaining the highest position in the overall fan vote last May 14. The Malaysian representative to the upcoming Miss Supranational 2022 competition in Poland this July, edged out another contender for the title, Vinthiya Vasu. Melisha holds a degree in marketing management from the University of Greenwich. She is expected to be crowned in a ceremony in Kuala Lumpur this June with the renowned actress and former Miss Supranational Malaysia Sanjna Suri as a special guest.
