Luca Derin was officially announced as Mister Supranational Netherlands 2023 on Sunday, April 9 at Addict (beauty salon) in Haarlem, Amsterdam. The 26-year-old former "Love Island" contestant from Sittard, Limburg, succeeded last year's titleholder Fransel Meyers and will now represent the Netherlands at Mister Supranational 2023 in Poland this July. No stranger to pageantry, Luca previously held the title Manhunt Netherlands and went on to compete during the Manhunt International 2018 held in Gold Coast, Australia where he finished as second runner-up. Luna-Isabella Stienstra edged out three other finalists to be crowned Miss Supranational Netherlands 2023 on Sunday, April 9 at Addict in Haarlem, Amsterdam. The 20-year-old beauty from Limburg is a dancer, certified makeup artist, and aspiring dentist assistant. She is no stranger to pageantry, having joined Miss Intercontinental Netherlands 2021 where she represented Limburg and placed fourth runner-up. Rounding out the Top 4 finalists were Monica Fernandes de Freitas, Uloma Onyema, and Aasiyah van Geenen. Miss Nederland 2022 (Miss Universe Netherlands) Ona Moody will be wearing a stroopwafel-inspired national costume for the 71st Miss Universe pageant. Stroopwafel is a delicious Dutch waffle cookie that is known all over the world for its great taste and is popular as a souvenir or gift from Holland. The stroopwafel's wafer layers are made from a stiff dough of flour, butter, and caramel filling made from syrup, brown sugar, butter, and cinnamon. Designed by Pearl Dronkers of Miss Pearl Couture, the costume features a bodysuit with hand-embroidered ornament inspired by the Delft Blue can (box) that contains the stroopwafels. The headpiece displays stroopwafels served with and placed on a hot drink such as coffee or tea to warm the cookie and soften the syrup. Amber Koelewijn was crowned Miss World Nederland 2022 (Miss World Netherlands) in a glittering event that took place on Wednesday, September 28 at the De Koning Party & Events in Amsterdam. The 17-year-old all-around beautician from Bunschoten-Spakenburg bested 11 other finalists to win the national competition. Nova Cheyen, 17, from Rotterdam, and Robey Bruins, 21, from Haaksbergen, were the first and second runners-up, respectively. Amber, who advocates against cyberbullying, was also the Talent and Top Model winner. She succeeds Lizzy Dobbe and will now prepare to represent the Netherlands at the 71st Miss World pageant. Iliya Shahedi was named Mister International Netherlands 2022 on Saturday, September 17 in a competition held at Zalencentrum De Brug in Reeuwijk. The 23-year-old fitness enthusiast of Persian descent succeeds last year's winner Mike Van Doorn and he will now prepare to represent the Netherlands at the 14th Mister International pageant in the Philippines this October. At the same event, Franklin Lopes and Kenji Schoonderwoerd respectively clinched the titles Mister Senior and Junior Netherlands 2022. The representatives of Belgium, Germany, and the Netherlands for the 60th Miss International pageant have been selected in a special event that took place last weekend at Beej Bertje in Maastricht. Loren Venx was named Miss International Belgium 2022 while Jasmin Selberg and Marisol Soliana were awarded the titles Miss International Germany and Netherlands, respectively. Joining them was Miss International 2020/2021 France Maya Albert, who won her own title last year in the northern french city of Roubaix. The "Miss International Festival" event was organized by pageant director Katia Maes, a Belgian native who is now based in the Netherlands. Misters of the Netherlands 2022 finalist Cas Hagman (left) has been officially announced as Manhunt Netherlands 2022. The 23-year-old accountant from Rotterdam will travel to the Philippines this September to represent the Netherlands at the 21st Manhunt International pageant. Paul Luzineau, also from the Netherlands, is currently the reigning Manhunt International titleholder. He was the first representative from his country to win the title in 2020. The international male pageant was not held in 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The 21st Manhunt International edition will take place on October 1 at Okada Manila. The final competition of the Miss Beauty of the Netherlands 2022 pageant was held on Saturday, July 2 at Studio 21 in Hilversum. A 24-year-old interior designer from Dodewaard, Merel Hendriksen, was named Miss Earth Netherlands 2022 while a 17-year-old aspiring beautician from Houten, Floortje Timmer, clinched the title of Miss Teen of the Netherlands 2022. A transgender woman, Solange Dekker, made history after entering the Top 10 of Miss Nederland 2022 (Miss Universe Netherlands 2022) in a casting held in Amsterdam on Saturday, April 16.
