Miss Grand International 2022 Isabella Menin of Brazil arrived in Manila, Philippines from Bangkok, Thailand on Wednesday, November 23 for her first official visit to the country. Joining the arrival were MGI President Nawat Itsaragrisil, Vice President Teresa Chaivisut, runners-up from Indonesia, Andina Julie, Venezuela, Luiseth Materán, and Czech Republic, Mariana Bečková, and the rest of the Top 10 from Puerto Rico, Oxana Rivera, Spain, Hirisley Jimenez, Colombia, Priscilla Londoño, Cambodia, Pich Votey Saravody, and the Philippines, Roberta Tamondong. Arnold Vegafria, the new national director of Miss Grand Philippines, welcomed the team at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport airport with Filipino fans and members of the media. They will be in the country until November 26 and part of this trip is to attend the launching of the first-ever national pageant exclusively for Miss Grand Philippines. The Top 40 contestants vying for the Mutya ng Pilipinas 2022 (Jewel of the Philippines) pageant have been officially presented to the press on Wednesday, November 23 at the Citadines Bay City Manila. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the national competition was not held in 2020 and 2021. According to the statement, since 2018 the evaluation process of the candidates is continuous and is made up of four different stages because the evolution of the young women cannot be measured solely and exclusively with the performance they have during the final night. New age limits have been announced by the Miss Supranational / Mister Supranational Organization following a survey conducted among national license holders. Women between the ages of 18 and 32 will now be able to participate in Miss Supranational. In addition to the rule, contestants must be female as indicated on official documents, and have never been married or have had children. For Mister Supranational, the age limit has been changed to 20 for the youngest and 34 for the oldest. To participate, aspirants need to be male as indicated on official documents, and have never been married or have children. Effective immediately, the changes will now take effect starting from Miss Supranational 2023 and Mister Supranational 2023 editions. Miss Casco Bay, Juliana Morehouse, was crowned Miss Maine USA 2023 on Sunday, November 20 at the Sheraton Sable Oaks in South Portland. The 23-year-old master's student in theology and an advocate of Alzheimer's disease will go on to represent Maine at the Miss USA 2023 pageant. She is the daughter of former Miss North Carolina USA and Miss USA 1994 second runner-up Lynn Jenkins Morehouse. "I have been passionate about finding a cure for Alzheimer’s disease since I was a child. My grandmother and my aunt both had the disease and lived with us for a portion of their sicknesses," Juliana shared on social media for Alzheimer’s Awareness month.
