Miss Universe Philippines 2022 final to be held in April, applications now open until February 15
The Miss Universe Philippines (MUP) organization has already announced April 30 as the official date for the coronation night of this year's national competition.
The application process has also been officially opened. To qualify, applicants must be at least 18 and under 28 years old at the time of the pageant, a Filipino citizen and Philippines passport holder, female, never been married, and never have been pregnant. No minimum height is required.
If you have what it takes to become Miss Universe Philippines 2022 and represent your country at the next Miss Universe pageant, download and fill out this form (bit.ly/MUPH2022) and send the accomplished copy to contact@missuniverseph.com. Submission of applications will officially close on February 15.
As this year's applications and screenings kicked off, MUP is taking a stand against offensive comments and statements in the pageant community, particularly on social media.
"We want Miss Universe Philippines to be a safe haven for positivity. We will not tolerate negative comments directed at anyone. Users will be blocked and comments will be deleted," posted on its official page.
Following the sudden death of Miss Universe USA 2019 Cheslie Kryst due to suicide, the organization also reminded everyone that mental health issues should not be taken for granted, and encouraged anyone struggling with suicidal thoughts or experiencing a mental health crisis to seek help.
Last year's winner Beatrice Luigi Gomez, who has first-hand experienced cyberbullying as an out member of the LGBTQ+ community, continued her country's 12-year placement streak at Miss Universe by achieving a Top 5 finish during the 70th Miss Universe edition in Israel last December.
The 26-year-old Cebuana beauty will crown her successor at the grand culmination of this year's highly-anticipated event in the Filipino pageantry.
