Miss Ethnic Vietnam 2022 is Nong Thuy Hang, second runner-up Thach Thu Thao to compete in Miss Earth 2022


Nong Thuy Hang was crowned Miss Ethnic Vietnam 2022 in a glittering event held on Saturday, July 16 in Ho Chi Minh City.

The 23-year-old beauty from the Tay ethnic group in the northern mountainous province of Ha Giang is a graduate of the National Economics University.

Luong Thi Hoa Dan, a 21-year-old student from the Kinh ethnic group in the northern province of Hai Duong, was named first runner-up.

A 21-year-old student from the Khmer ethnic group in the Mekong Delta province of Tra Vinh, Thach Thu Thao, finished as second runner-up and was chosen to compete in Miss Earth 2022, possibly in the Philippines later this year.

Reigning Miss Earth Destiny Wagner from Belize, former Miss Earth Lindsey Coffey from the USA, and Miss Universe 2018 Top 5 finalist from Vietnam H’Hen Nie were the special guests and were part of the judging panel.

National pageant director Truong Ngoc Anh said that from the very beginning "the opportunity to compete in Miss Earth has been divided equally among the Top 3" and the decision to pick the second runner-up for this year's international competition was carefully made with Lorraine Schuck, the executive vice president of the Miss Earth pageant.

Vietnam first hosted the Miss Earth pageant in 2010 and is expected to host again in 2023. The country first win the coveted title in 2018 with Nguyen Phuong Khanh.

Miss Universe 2023: Meet the contestants

A total of 85 beauties from around the world will compete in the highly anticipated 72nd Miss Universe pageant in El Salvador this November. This year's competition will mark the debut of Pakistan and the returns of 10 countries consisting of Denmark, Egypt, Guyana, Hungary, Ireland, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Mongolia, Norway, and Zimbabwe. Jane Dipika Garrett bested over 20 other competitors to win Miss Universe Nepal 2023 on Saturday, September 9 at the Godavari Sunrise Convention Center. The 22-year-old nurse and business developer from Kathmandu made history as she became the first-ever plus-size beauty to win the national title. The 8th Mister Global edition is underway in Chiang Mai, Thailand and 39 of the world's most handsome and inspiring gentlemen are competing for the title. Miss Palmela, Marina Machete was crowned Miss Universe Portugal 2023 on Thursday, October 5 in Borba, District of Évora. The 28-year-old beauty bested 16 other finalists to win the glittering competition. Aside from the crown, she also bagged the Miss Beautifully Confident award. While the official date and venue of the national final have not yet been announced, all 51 state representatives have already been crowned. Mrs. South Dakota American Hannah Neeleman was crowned Mrs. American 2023 in a glittering competition held on Friday, August 25 at Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino in Nevada. The announcement was made during the Miss Universe 2023 final show held on Saturday, November 18 in San Salvador, El Salvador.
