New Miss Universe Malaysia launched, first Miss Universe private jet revealed


Newly formed Miss Universe Malaysia was launched in a press conference held on Friday, February 17 at the Astor Ballroom of the St. Regis Hotel in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

The event officially introduced Indonesian singer Poppy Capella of Just Capella as the new license holder. She is also the owner of Jakarta-based PT Capella Swastika Karya which recently acquired Miss Universe Indonesia.

Also announced joining her team is appointed CEO Dato' Westin Chew, a Malaysian businessman and hands-on chief executive officer who has over a decade of experience in various fields.

Miss Universe 2022 R'Bonney Gabriel and her court, Dominican Republic's Andreína Martínez Founier, and Curacao's Gabriëla Dos Santos were invited to attend as special guests. This is the second part of their official Asian tour that kicked off in Bangkok, Thailand a week ago.

Miss Universe Organization owner and JKN Global Group's Anne Jakratutatip, who just celebrated her 44th birthday, was also present and revealed the first-ever Miss Universe private jet to be used for the reigning queen's official trips around the world.

With the new partnership, Miss Universe Malaysia is expected to not only elevate Malaysian pageantry to a whole new level but create a platform that brings change to the world and attention to important social issues.

Malaysia currently holds the longest streak of non-placement at Miss Universe. Since its debut in 1962, the country only placed once with Josephine Lena Wong in 1970.

The national franchise for Miss Universe Malaysia was previously held by former titleholder Elaine Daly.

Miss Aura International 2023 is Thailand's Ketwalee Phonbodi

Ketwalee Phonbodi of Thailand was crowned Miss Aura International 2023 in a glittering competition on Friday, September 29 in Antalya, Turkey. The 19-year-old beauty became the first Thai woman to win the international pageant. She succeeds last year's winner  Riskyana Hidayat  from Indonesia. Indonesia's Sahida Sheik Iskandar was named first runner-up while Daniela Ștefan of Romania, Francisca Lavandero of Chile, and Tatiana Gonçalves of Brazil were the second, third, and fourth runners-up, respectively. Miss America 2024 will be the 96th edition of the Miss America pageant — the nation's leading provider of scholarships for young women. While the official date and venue of the national final have not yet been announced, all 51 state representatives have already been crowned. Apart from raising the age limits to between 18 and 28, the 2024 competition under the new CEO Robin Ross-Fleming will also see other changes. Noelia Voigt bested 19 other competitors to win Miss Utah USA 2023 on Saturday, July 8 at the Rose Wagner Performing Arts Center (Jeanne Wagner Theater) in Salt Lake City. The 23-year-old Venezuelan-American interior designer and author representing Park City will now prepare to represent Utah at Miss USA 2023 in Reno, Nevada this fall. From the Top 20 semifinalists, only 10 beauties have been announced to continue to the final of Miss Suomi 2023 (Miss Universe Finland 2023) next month. The announcement led by Miss Suomi national director Sunneva Sjögren was held on Tuesday, August 15 at Valo Hotel in Helsinki.
