Bryoni Govender to represent South Africa at Miss Universe 2023


Miss South Africa 2023 first runner-up Bryoni Natalie Govender has been confirmed to represent South Africa at the 72nd Miss Universe pageant.

The 26-year-old lawyer from Kempton Park in Gauteng came second to Miss South Africa 2023 winner Natasha Joubert at the national pageant held on Sunday in Pretoria.

Since Natasha has already joined Miss Universe 2020 and rules do not allow her to participate again, she is now expected to go to Miss Supranational 2024.

Following last night's competition, the new Miss Universe South Africa went to social media to share: "I am so incredibly proud of myself. Thank you South Africa for all your support and love."

Seven equally beautiful, intelligent, and empowered women battled it out for the Mohana crown during the star-studded 65th Miss South Africa final.

"My heart is still bursting with pride," Bryoni wrote in another post.

Miss Universe 2023 is scheduled to take place in El Salvador on November 18. Reigning Miss Universe R'Bonney Gabriel of the USA will crown her successor at the end of the event.

Alejandra Rodríguez was crowned Miss Universe Buenos Aires 2024 in a competition held on Sunday, April 21 at Corregidor Hotel in La Plata. The 60-year-old lawyer and journalist bested more than 30 other contestants to win the title. She will now prepare to represent Buenos Aires at Miss Universe Argentina 2024. New Miss USA and Miss Teen USA franchise partner announced

Fashion designer Laylah Rose has been announced as the new license holder and will serve as the president and CEO for the Miss USA and Miss Teen USA pageants. The founder of Laylah Rose Couture and also the CEO of VIP Pageantry replaces Miss Brand and former Miss USA national director Crystle Stewart. Reno, Nevada will again host this year's Miss USA and Miss Teen USA with Emmy Award-winning executive producer Kerri Zane of Kerri Zane Enterprises and Bud Brutsman of Brentwood Communications International, Inc. handling the productions. Celinee Santos Frias was crowned Miss Universe Dominican Republic 2024 during the Miss Republica Dominicana 2024 final competition held on Sunday, May 5 at Centro de Convenciones Sambil in Santo Domingo. The 24-year-old model and actress, representing Distrito Nacional, will now represent the Dominican Republic at the Miss Universe 2024 pageant in Mexico later this year. Hawaii's Savannah Gankiewicz becomes the new Miss USA

The Miss USA organization has just announced Savannah Gankiewicz of Hawaii as the new Miss USA following the resignation of Noelia Voigt. According to the official announcement, Savannah will be crowned in her home state of Hawaii in a special coronation ceremony next Wednesday, May 15. The new Miss USA was crowned  Miss Hawaii USA in January last year and went on to participate in Miss USA 2023 in Reno, Nevada last September. She finished as first runner-up. Savannah is of Filipino, Vietnamese, and Polish descent born and raised in Kihei on the island of Maui. She is a model, entrepreneur, and self-love advocate. Noelia Voigt steps down as Miss USA 2023

Miss USA 2023 Noelia Voigt officially announced her shocking resignation as titleholder in a post on social media on Monday, May 6. "I realize this may come as a large shock to many. Never compromise your physical and mental well-being. Our health is our wealth," she wrote. "A million thank you's to all of you for your constant and unwavering support.
