70th Miss Universe contestants tour Jerusalem old city in Israel

Despite imposing travel restrictions due to the Omicron coronavirus variant, Israel's hosting of the 70th Miss Universe pageant is pushing through. The contestants were taken to a tour of Jerusalem's old city on Tuesday, November 30 in their sneakers, pantsuits, and cocktail dresses. They visited some notable landmarks in the city such as the Tower of David Museum and Jerusalem Botanical Gardens. Their final itinerary of the day was a tea party at King David Hotel where they met with important persons such as Mayor Moshe Lion, local female politicians, and heads of organizations that fight poverty and violence against women. Over 70 beauties are expected to continue their journey to the Miss Universe crown in Eilat next week where they will go through a series of pre-pageant activities and preliminary competitions prior to the final on December 12. Miss Universe France Clémence Botino tests positive for COVID-19 in Israel

Miss Universe France Clémence Botino will be isolated for 10 days after testing positive for COVID-19 upon arrival in Israel. The 24-year-old beauty who hails from Guadeloupe came to Israel to participate in the 70th Miss Universe pageant to be held on December 12. Unfortunately, her test results came back positive for the viral infection.  In a statement shared on her social media account, she said: "I was shocked and sad, it is truly hard. I'm a really positive person and I work really hard, and the past two years have been tough." "Even if it is hard I won't give up. Life has brought me to Israel and everything is ready. Every situation is supposed to make us stronger," she added. Clémence also encouraged her followers to be safe "because the virus is still here." There is no confirmation yet if she will be able to continue with participation in the upcoming Miss Universe final competition should her test comes back negative after isolating. P

Thailand's Anchilee Scott-Kemmis departs for 70th Miss Universe in Israel

Miss Universe Thailand 2021 Anchilee Scott-Kemmis departed for Israel on Tuesday, November 23 to compete in the 70th Miss Universe pageant. The 22-year-old beauty who majored in sociology at the University of Sydney was wearing a blue jumpsuit by Thai fashion designer, Narong Ketkaew, during her departure.  Many fans and members of the press flocked to the Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok. Former Miss Universe Thailand and Miss Universe Top 10 finalist, Amanda Obdam, was also present to show her support. Anchilee will compete with over 70 other contestants from around the world to try to win her country's third Miss Universe crown on December 12 in the southern Israeli port and resort town of Eilat. Reigning Miss Universe Andrea Meza visits holy sites in Israel

The reigning Miss Universe from Mexico, Andrea Meza, toured around Israel ahead of the upcoming 70th Miss Universe competition to be held in the country this December. Her itinerary included a visit to holy sites in Jerusalem's Old City on Wednesday, November 17. Amid boycott calls and pressures on contestants, Israel pushes through its historic hosting of the Miss Universe pageant in Eilat. Over 70 beauties from around the world will soon arrive to compete for the prestigious title. According to Andrea, the pageant shouldn’t be politicized. The Mexican beauty will relinquish her crown on December 12 in the southern Israeli resort city. "Everyone with different beliefs, with different backgrounds, with different cultures, they all come together and when you are in there you forget about politics, about your religion," she told the press. Noa Cochva to represent Israel at 70th Miss Universe pageant

Noa Cochva was crowned Miss Israel 2021 in a glittering national pageant held on Sunday, October 24 in Tel Aviv. The 22-year-old model and entrepreneur from Bnei Atarot edged out 11 other finalists to win her title. She succeeds Tehila Levi and will now represent Israel at the 70th Miss Universe pageant in Eilat this December. Noa aspires to become a pediatrician someday. Israel to host the 70th Miss Universe pageant

For the first time in history, the 70th Miss Universe (Miss Universe 2021) pageant will be hosted in Israel. Israel's Tourism Ministry and the Miss Universe Organization (MUO) made the official announcement on Tuesday, July 20. A Middle Eastern country on the Mediterranean Sea, Israel is regarded by Jews, Christians, and Muslims as the biblical Holy Land. "Israel has been on our shortlist of host countries for a number of years due to its rich history, beautiful landscapes, myriad of cultures, and appeal as a global tourist destination," the MUO President Paula Shugart said. The international pageant is set to take place this December in the country's southernmost city of Eilat, a southern Israeli port and resort town on the Red Sea, near Jordan. It is renowned for its spectacular combination of the surrounding desert landscape, the beautiful bay, and the summer sun that shines all year round. Mexico's Andrea Meza will crown her successor at the end of the event t
